Welcome to the AM Technology Playbook. AM publishes primary-source collections for academic and research libraries around the world. Quartex is the platform we deliver them through, and the Technology department designs, builds and runs it. This Playbook describes how our engineering, product, test, design and operations people work together to do that, and the standards we hold ourselves to while we do it.

It is for anyone in the department, anyone elsewhere in AM who works with us, anyone thinking of joining, and anyone curious about how we work. We publish it so that we can be held to it.

  • How we work: the operating model, from an idea on the roadmap to software in use and supported.
  • Quality: how we make quality everyone's responsibility, and the standards behind it.
  • Culture: the tenets, principles and leadership behaviours we hold each other to, and hackathons.
  • People: onboarding, progression, working patterns and training.
  • Glossary: the words we use, defined once.

The Playbook describes the shape of how we work. Procedures, templates, tooling and platform detail live in our internal Knowledgebase.
